Bibliography reference management

These are tools that allow you to create, maintain, organize, share and shape the bibliographic references of journal articles, books or other types of documents from different sources of information (databases, magazines, web pages, etc.). They will also create citations and bibliographies in the working documents with a standardized format (MLA, Vancouver, etc.).

The different bibliographic reference managers share the same basic functionalities: storage of bibliographic references; description, organization and retrieval of references; creation of bibliographies and citation tools, as well as sharing references.

Mendeley

Mendeley is a bibliographic manager that combines a web version with a Desktop version. It also incorporates Web 2.0 functionalities that allow you to share bibliographic references with contacts and browse the content uploaded by other users. This system allows managing and sharing research documents. It combines a reference management and PDF document management application with an online social network for researchers. Mendeley automatically extracts article metadata and references from PDF files. It also retrieves additional information from Crossref, PubMed, ArXiv, etc.
