Agreements with publishers to publish in Open Access

MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute)

The University of Cádiz participates in the institutional open access program offered by the publisher MDPI  (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) since February 14, 2017.  Thanks to this, the authors of the UCA will have a 10% discount on the rates of publication for journals included in MDPI: about 20 scientífic journals in open access and peer-reviewed . This participation is a valuable instrument to promote open publication by researchers at our University.

Instructions for the University of Cádiz authors:

  • In order to be eligible for the discount, the author must identify himself as members of the University of Cádiz in his affiliation data.
  • You must send the article from an institutional IP and mark University of Cádiz in the drop-down of institutions that opens during the online submission of the manuscript..
  • The 10% discount will be reflected directly in the invoice that the author receives if the article is accepted.  More information. 

        

BIOMED CENTRAL Y SPRINGER OPEN

The University of Cádiz is a member of the publishers Biomed Central and SpringerOpen. The agreement allows UCA authors to publish in the Open Access journals of these publishers with a 15% discount in the APC (Article Processing Charges). These publishers publish peer-reviewed open access journals in Biomedicine and Technology respectively. The agreement is a valuable instrument to promote open publication by researchers at our University.

Instructions for the  University of Cádiz authors:

If the author submits the manuscrito   from a University IP address, the discount is automatically applied.

If the author sends the manuscript using an IP address not registered by the University:

  • Choose option “I believe that I am covered by an Institutional membership arrangement” in the APC agreement page.
  • Select your institution from the list.
  • The platform’s customer service will apply the discount to you before sending instructions on how to complete the submission.

EMERALD

The Consortium of University Libraries of Andalusia works closely with Emerald to support open access research by applying discounts to APCs. Authors from the University of Cádiz will be able to benefit from a 10% discount.

The conditions of the agreement are as follows:

  • The discount will be 10% applicable to 2019, 2020 and 2021.
  • There is no limit to the number of times the discount is requested.
  • The discount can only be used by the main author (corresponding author / main author)..
  • The APC discount will be used at the time of acceptance of the article (not when submitting it).
  • No discount codes or anything similar is required when submitting an article for publication.

All Emerald journal titles allow the publication of articles in Open Access (hybrid journals).

American Chemical Society (ACS)

The University of Cádiz, through the Consortium of University Libraries of Andalusia (CBUA), is a subscriber to the journals of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in the “All ACS Publications” modality. This subscription option allows UCA authors to publish in this publisher’s Open Access journals with a 25% discount on the APC (Article Processing Charge) or amount for article processing. This discount is cumulative with an additional 50% for authors who are members of the ACS. With this option, authors will be able to deposit the final version of their articles on their personal web pages or in the Institutional Repository of the UCA, RODIN.

In order to obtain each one of these discounts, when submitting the article, the author must select, in the corresponding menu on the ACS website, the institution to which he belongs and confirm whether or not he is a member of ACS.
